Our dear friend, Cassie Johnson Tidwell, inspired so many through her adventurous spirit and love of travel! She felt that a cancer diagnosis was no reason to slow down, and the best time to embrace life and see the world. Yet, cancer is expensive and many patients cannot afford to spend the money on travel.

During her cancer battle, she applied and won the opportunity to take her family on two trips. Both involved the donation of vacation properties to be used by cancer patients and their families. Cassie enjoyed this time so much, and hoped that we could do something similar on a local level. 

Sadly, we were unable to establish this foundation before her passing. Since then, it has become our mission to see her wishes through and bring this idea to our community.

This foundation has three specific goals:

1. We give local cancer patients and their families the opportunity spend some time away from “cancer” and enjoy a retreat at Pickwick Lake! To rest, recharge, and create lasting memories. Through donations of individuals and local businesses, we cover the all the expenses for patients to enjoy all that this beautiful place has to offer.
2. Our organization works with both Darryl Worley and West Cancer Centers to identify patients with financial needs, and offer resources to those individuals while undergoing treatment.
3. We support other organizations which positively impacts the life of cancer patient such as Life Line Pilots. Life Line Pilots is a non-profit group that provides free air transportation for patients who require medical treatment away from home. Through the generous donation of time and use of aircraft, volunteer pilots take the stress and burden out of travel for these patients.

Cassie’s Cause is a qualified 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and financial donations are tax deductible.
